Cheerleading & Life Insurance
Cheerleading is becoming a popular sport in the UK. It involves working in a group to dance, do acrobatics, gymnastics and more, to support a sports team.
Cheerleading can be done at local, regional, national and professional levels. In some cases, the cheerleaders will showcase their talents abroad either supporting their team, or by taking part in competitions.
To double check the best life insurance options for you our advisers will ask you:
- How often are you cheerleading?
- Do you take part in competitions?
- Is your cheerleading in the UK only or do you travel abroad?
Whether you do cheerleading in the UK or abroad, you will more than likely find that a life insurance policy will be available at standard terms. Cheerleading will not usually come up in the insurers question sets, unless you are doing some form of extreme events.
If your stay overseas is longer than 30 days or you travel regularly abroad to do cheerleading, you may find that the insurer will increase the premium.
Our award winning advisers will find the best life insurance to meet your needs.
Cheerleading & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness cover will most likely be available at normal terms for us, as it’s unlikely that cheerleading will come up in the application. The insurers will need to ask you some questions such as travel abroad for your hobby, as this can sometimes affect your critical illness options.
Our expert advisers will find the right insurer and best critical illness policy to match you and your hobby.
Cheerleading & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
If you do cheerleading as a hobby and you’re looking to protect your income, you may find that this will be available at standard terms. The insurer will want to know if you’ve had any injuries recently, as this can affect the application and there may be some exclusions placed on the policy as a result.
As an example, if you have sprained an ankle in the last couple of years you can find that the insurer places an exclusion on the policy for claims for that ankle.
Our advisers will make sure that you are offered the best terms possible for income protection.
Cheerleading & Healthy Living Insurance
There are some insurance policies that allow you to earn rewards and reduce your policy premium, if you are fit and active. Being a golf player is a perfect match to the way that the insurer monitors your fitness levels, so that you can access these benefits.

Cheerleading & Travel Insurance
Are you going abroad to take part in a cheerleading competition? It’s a good idea to make sure that your travel insurance doesn’t have exclusions for competitive events. We suggest speaking with a specialist travel insurance broker. You can find more details on our travel insurance page.

Common Questions
Hi, good luck with your competition! To confirm the way the insurance will work for you, I will need some more details, but here are some pointers.
Income protection is the insurance that is most linked to claims for sports injuries and most insurers will cover claims for injuries abroad. You can find that the insurer will want you to return to the UK to fully process your claim. There are some insurers that don’t cover claims if you are injured abroad so if you send me your insurers’ details I can check this for you.
Critical illness cover can potentially cover claims for some very serious injuries that occur while you are abroad. Some insurers might wait to process your claim until you are back in the UK.
