Footballers & Life Insurance
Getting life insurance for a professional footballer shouldn’t be too difficult as staying fit and healthy is very favoured by insurers. However, the type of insurer that is used for your life insurance, is really key to getting you a good price.
Extensive or regular travel outside of the UK can change your options for life insurance quickly. You might be able to get life insurance with a UK insurer, but you might need to apply to an international provider.
To make sure that we get the right insurer for you, our advisers may ask:
- Do you often travel outside the UK to play football?
- if you travel abroad to play football, how often are you doing so and where are you going?
- Have you received any serious injuries in the past few years, that have prevented you from working?
Life insurance may be offered at standard terms for a professional footballer. Travel outside of the UK up to a week for work, shouldn’t have much of an affect on your life insurance application.
If you travel often and/or for long periods of time it’s quite likely that a more specialist insurer will be needed for your life insurance.
Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.
Footballers & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Applications for critical illness cover may be available to professional footballers, but your travel is a big factor in what you can get. Critical illness cover has stricter eligibility than life insurance and if you are outside of the UK a lot, UK insurers can soon say they won’t accept your application.
Your critical illness cover is unlikely to include Total Permanent Disability, which is usually offered with this type of policy. This one claimable condition is linked to your ability to ever work in your specific occupation ever again. It doesn’t take much for you to have an injury or illness that doesn’t allow you to ever play football again.
If critical illness cover is not available to you with a UK insurer, we can look at international insurers for you.
Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.
Footballers & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Unfortunately, it is very unlikely that you will get income protection with you being a professional athlete. Being a professional footballer is seen as very high risk for income protection. The reason for this is because if you have an injury or illness, you will be signed off from work far quicker than say an office worker. Your ability to work is strongly entwined with your physical health.
There are career ending injury insurances available we can offer you which may work well for your needs.
Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.
