Uganda & Life Insurance
When you are applying for life insurance Uganda isn’t seen as a typical holiday destination by UK insurers. Many insurers ask if you are travelling outside Europe, North America, Australia or New Zealand in the future.
Short holidays or work trips are not often a concern to the insurers, but they can sometimes be a bit cautious about where you are actually travelling to.
Insurers are often watching world events and looking for any changes that show political or civil unrest, environmental factors and potentially even the quality of healthcare within a country. Their ability to offer you life insurance can change quickly depending upon what is happening in the country you are travelling to.
To check your life insurance options we will ask:
- When are you travelling to Uganda?
- How long will you be staying in Uganda for?
- Are you travelling to Uganda for work or a holiday?
Short holidays tend to be seen as ones that are 30 days or less, work trips are different and usually considered to be 1 week or less.
There are some insurers that should be able to consider your application for life insurance, without there being any increase to the premiums due to your travel. But, you will find that other insurers will simply not offer you life insurance until your journey is over and you are back in the UK.
Our award winning advisers are here to search the market for you, so you don’t have to, to make sure that you get the best life insurance cover.
British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Similarly to life insurance, you should be able to arrange critical illness cover with some insurers, if your trip to Uganda is for a short period of time. If you are staying in Uganda for a long period of time, you will find that most insurers will not offer your critical illness cover until you are back in the UK.
Our advisers know which insurers to place your application with so that you get the best terms for critical illness cover.
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Income protection can be a bit of a so and so when it comes to travel, as insurers need to make sure that you are eligible for the insurance. This usually means that your main residence is in the UK, you actively live in the UK and you pay tax in the UK.
For short journeys there are sometimes a few options where income protection can be available to you, with your upcoming travel to Uganda.
There are international insurers that can offer income protection policies in some circumstances, but this can change quickly depending upon travel advice to Uganda.
Our expert advisers will listen to your circumstances and let you know the best way to protect your income.
