When you apply for Life Insurance, Pakistan is viewed as a country of travel that needs to be disclosed in your application to the insurers. There are some specialist insurers who will consider accepting your application at non-standard terms, meaning an increase to the policy premiums. Pakistan Life Insurance applications will need to detail how long you intend to stay within the country, how often you will be travelling there and the purpose of your stay e.g. business or leisure.
When you are visiting Pakistan for a short period of time such as for a holiday or to visit family your application should be accepted at standard rates.
British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.
Critical Illness Cover for those who plan to travel to Pakistan in the near future for extended periods of time or work-related purposes is currently unavailable. Insurers regularly alter their stance as to the acceptance terms they will offer individuals who travel abroad, so it is worthwhile speaking with one of our advisers to see if the cover is now available to you.
If you are a member of the Armed Forces and will be deployed to Pakistan in the near future you may be able to secure Critical Illness Cover with certain insurance providers. If a policy was offered it would come with either exclusions on some critical illnesses (i.e. coma, traumatic head injury) or an occupational exclusion (no claim paid due to work-related injury). Please see our specific pages for Armed Forces personnel here, to see what kind of underwriting terms could be available to you.
Income Protection applications that detail travel to Pakistan will be more difficult to place and requires that a specialist insurance provider be contacted. The insurance provider will want to know details such as the intended length of stay, amount of trips planned per year and if you are travelling for personal or business purposes. When you apply for Income Protection and you intend to travel to a country that is seen to be of a higher risk, you should be prepared that the policy will likely be offered with an increased premium or declined.
