Malawi & Life Insurance

MalawiWhen planning a holiday to Malawi some insurers might ask you for some extra details about your trip.

If you are in Malawi for 30 days or more for a holiday, or more than a week for business, you could be offered different pricing for your life insurance.

To check your life insurance options we may ask you:

  • How long is your stay in Malawi?
  • Is your trip to Malawi for business or a holiday?
  • Where in Malawi will you be staying?

If you are going for less than 30 days, life insurance may be available at regular terms. This means standard pricing. Your choice of insurer will be essential in getting this cheapest price for you.

Longer stays or work trips over 7 days could affect your application for life insurance as insurers will need more details. Depending upon your situation, insurers may need increase your policy premiums due to your travel, some might even postpone or decline your life insurance application.

A very important thing to say is that if you have spent lots of time in Malawi in the past 5 years you may be asked to complete a HIV test. Not all insurers ask this, but you can find that some do.

Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.

British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.

Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.

You might be offered critical illness cover at standard terms, depending on how long you stay in Malawi. This means that there will be no exclusions on the policy and no premium increases. Your critical illness options will be heavily determined on where and how long you will stay in Malawi.

You should be able to get cover on standard terms if your trip to Malawi is less than 30 days. Although, if you are abroad for more than 30 days, or travel frequently out the UK over the upcoming year, its important to get an insurer to accommodate you.

Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.

Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.

You should be able to get income protection with upcoming travel to Malawi at standard terms, as long as your trip is under 30 days and to a low-risk area.

You will be asked by insurers if travelling to Malawi is part of your occupation and if you are, what work you will be completing there.

Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.
