Haiti Life Insurance
When you travel to Haiti you will find that most insurers within the UK are not able to offer you life insurance. This is most, not all insurers, and we know where to place your life insurance application to get you the cover that you need.
Insurers will often use guidelines from the UK government to determine which countries they see as being safe to travel to. These guidelines alongside other sources can regularly change the way that insurers view the risk of a country.
To check your life insurance options we will ask:
- When are you travelling to Haiti?
- What is your reason for travelling to Haiti?
- How long will you be staying in Haiti for?
Most UK insurers will decline your application for life insurance if you plan on travelling to Haiti. We have access to insurers within the UK that will be able to consider your life insurance application, if you are travelling to Haiti for a short holiday or business trip.
In the insurance world a short holiday is usually anything less than 30 days and a short business trip is less than 1 week.

British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
You will find that most insurers in the UK will decline your application for critical illness cover, if you plan to travel to Haiti. There are a couple of insurers that we can potentially place your application with, but this needs to be done carefully or you could be offered critical illness cover with an exclusion for any claims that are caused by your travel to Haiti.

Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Your application for income protection will need to be placed with a specialist insurer, if you plan to travel to Haiti. It is quite likely that any income protection policy that you arrange will come with an exclusion for claims relating to your travel to Haiti.
This will not sound great. Sometimes it can work well to put a policy in place with an exclusion as a kind of temporary cover, to then replace it with an income protection policy without exclusions once you are back from your trip to Haiti.
