Guinea & Life Insurance
Life insurance for people travelling to Guinea may be available at standard terms if you plan a short trip. That usually means less than 30 days for a holiday or nearly a week for a business trip.
Insurers are regularly assessing how risky they think travel to different countries is, plus their neighbours, and their views can change quite quickly.
To check your life insurance options we will ask:
- When will you visit Guinea?
- Are you going for leisure of work?
- How long is your stay?
When you go to Guinea frequently within a year or for stays of 30 days or more, you might be offered non-standard terms on your life insurance or even have your life insurance declined. If your life insurance is declined due to your travel it’s most likely due to insurers rules over proof of your residency in the UK. This proof can be different in insurers’ eyes compared to other industries, which can be frustrating.
Don’t worry though, we are able to access international insurers, if UK insurers are unable to consider your life insurance application.
Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.
British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness cover can be looked at by insurers in a similar way to life insurance, for people planning travel to Guinea. If you go on a short trip, the likelihood is that there should be options for you to secure critical illness cover with some insurers.
Insurers regularly change their stance on the risks presented by travel to different countries and the terms that you are offered will be reflective of Guinea’s risk rating at the time of application. If the insurers feel that travel to Guinea is risky you may find that the premiums are increased, or that they postpone or decline your application, until you have returned.
Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Travelling to Guinea could alter your options for income protection depending upon why you are travelling there and how long you will be in Guinea for.
Your insurer’s interest will peak if your travel is work related. If you are intending to be in Guinea for more than 30 days, or are frequently visiting Guinea, you could get higher premiums or even have your application declined.
Income protection policies are strongly based upon you being a UK resident and paying tax in the UK. So if you are out of the country quite a while each year, the insurers can question your residency and decide that you are not eligible for the cover. There are international insurers that might be able to consider your income protection application.
Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.
