Train Conductors & Life Insurance
As a train conductor your life insurance options should not be affected by your occupation. There can be some potential risks with your work, but insurers tend to not be too worried about these for life insurance
To double check your options, our advisers may ask:
- Do you work as a train conductor within the UK, or abroad (this includes Le Shuttle)?
- Have you had any injuries or illnesses that have caused to take time off work in recent years?
It is quite likely that you will get life insurance at normal terms as a train conductor. Your occupation is not generally seen as a high risk. Other factors such as your health, family medical history, sports and travel, could alter your options for life insurance.
Insurers do tend to ask about whether you travel outside of the UK as part of your work. If you work at Le Shuttle your answer to this would need to be yes and regularly, and initially answering this the insurer can question if you’re eligible for the cover. Don’t worry, it just needs a chat with them to explain the situation and everything should go smoothly with your application.
If for some reason you travel outside the UK for more than a week for work, it’s possible that a more specialist insurer will be needed for your life insurance.
Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.
Train Conductors & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness cover for train conductors should be available with most UK insurers. Again, travel abroad may influence the type of insurer that your critical illness cover should be placed with.
Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.
Train Conductors & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Income protection for train conductors can be available with insurers in the UK, but, research is key. When it comes to income protection some insurers will charge you a higher premium if they see your job as risk for making a claim. Being a train conductor is classed as a higher risk occupation, so this could happen with your application.
Not all insurers will do this. Some insurers are specifically designed to not charge a higher price for higher risk jobs.
The difference in price between the two routes can be pretty big. We will be able to show you both options so you can make a choice as to the best income protection policy for you.
Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.
