Stonemasons & Life Insurance
Being a stonemason can be seen as a bit risky by life insurance providers in the Uk
This is due to quite a few things that can be part of your job duties and the insurer might want to know a bit more about your work.
To make sure your life insurance application goes to the right insurer, our advisers may ask:
- How many hours a week are you doing manual work?
- How much of your work is heavy manual lifting, light manual lifting, administrative and supervisory?
- Do you work solely in the UK or abroad?
- Do you work at heights?
If your work takes you abroad, a significant amount of your working hours are spent doing heavy manual lifting, or you are working at heights, you can find that insurers increase the premiums on your life insurance.
This isn’t always the case and it really comes down to your individual circumstances. There are times that life insurance can be available at normal pricing for stonemasons.
Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.
Stonemasons & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Similarly to life insurance, the price of your critical illness cover completely depends upon the specifics of your current job role.
Critical illness cover often includes a claimable event known as Total Permanent Disability. It’s very likely that this will not be available on your critical illness cover, due to your occupation as a stonemason. It’s very hard to claim on this aspect of a critical illness policy, so it is often still worthwhile considering the insurance for all of the other situations that are covered.
Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.
Stonemasons & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Income protection is seen as very risky for a stonemason. This is because your work requires you to be very physically fit and capable. Your job is do dependent upon you being well, that it doesn’t take much for you to be unable to work. Bear with me while I explain this and please know that I am talking in generalisations.
If an office worker breaks a couple of fingers, or their wrist, which isn’t that hard to do, they can often still get into the office and carry on working with adaptations. However, if the same happened to you, it’s quite unlikely that you would be able to carry on working at the same capacity.
Your income protection will likely be best placed with an insurance provider that specifically designs their products for manual workers. Other more mainstream insurers may be able to consider your application, but they can often be far more expensive.
Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.
