Quantity Surveyor & Life Insurance
Quantity surveyors as an occupation is not usually seen as risky to insurers for life insurance, but there are some things that can make it higher risk.
It really comes down to your specific job duties. If your work is purely office based then insurers are likely to offer you standard terms for life insurance. There are some potential requirements of your role that could alter life insurance options for you.
We will ask you:
- How many site visits do you do each year?
- Do you ever work at heights?
- Is your work based in the UK or do you travel abroad?
- How many business miles do you travel each year?
For most quantity surveyors life insurance should be available at normal prices. If you were to work at heights over 12m (40ft) at times, this can change life insurance pricing with quite a few insurers. Similarly, if you travel outside of the UK regularly for your work, this can potentially alter who will be the best insurer for you, as pricing can be affected.
Our advisers are here to help you find the right insurer to match your circumstances, to get you the best terms possible.
Quantity Surveyor & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness cover should be available to you at normal terms if you are not working at heights, or regularly travelling abroad as part of your work.
You can find that if your specific job role involves extra risks in the insurers’ eyes, that you might seen an exclusion on your critical illness policy. This would most likely just be applied to one claimable condition known as Total Permanent Disability. You should still be covered for all of the other main conditions without any exclusions, but it is essential that the wording of the exclusion is thoroughly checked.
Our expert advisers will find the right critical illness policy to match your work.
Quantity Surveyor & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Income protection can be a bit of a minefield in terms of all the different options available in the UK. If your specific job duties are seen as a little risky you can find a big difference in price between different insurers in the UK.
Where your work is purely office based, you should find that most insurers in the UK are able to consider your application for income protection cover at standard pricing. When there are potential higher risks to your work, it is important to make sure that your income protection policy goes to an insurer that looks favourably upon your duties.
