Joiners & Life Insurance

JoinersWhen you are a joiner you should be able to arrange life insurance with most insurers within the UK. It’s very likely that you will get life insurance at standard terms, but there are some things that can change this.

To make sure that your life insurance application is placed with the right insurer we will ask you:

  • Do you work with heavy machinery?
  • Do you work at heights of over 12 metres or 40 feet?
  • Is your work just in the UK or do you go abroad?

Most of the time life insurance for joiners will be at standard rates.

You can sometimes find that if you are working with big machinery or regularly at heights, that this can change the options that you have. It might be that your life insurance application needs to be placed with a specific insurer, or that the insurers could increase your premium a little bit.

Our advisers are here to help you find the right insurer to match your circumstances, to get you the best terms possible.

Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.

Critical illness cover should be available at standard pricing for joiners.

There can sometimes be an interesting change when it comes to the claimable condition of Total Permanent Disability. This condition is one of a list of many conditions that you can claim on, most contracts usually cover more than 50 conditions. TPD is just one of these conditions and it can sometimes have an exclusion or not be offered depending upon a person’s job. Depending upon the duties of your role, you might find that some insurers offer you critical illness cover this way.

Our expert advisers will find the right critical illness policy to match your work.

Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.

Income protection is available to joiners and is really important as you are usually very dependent upon being physically ok. For many joiners you are dependent upon your hands, arms and back to be able to do your work, and it doesn’t take too much to have an injury that can stop you working.

You can find that as a joiner your occupation will change the way that income protection is priced, quite significantly between insurers. It’s quite common to see some insurers pricing way cheaper than others and this might be right for you, but these can often come with premium increases over time that can make them much more expensive in the long run.

It’s important that you see both options, so that you can make a decision as to which income protection policy is right for you.

Our advisers recommend income protection for people every day and we will be able to let you know exactly what you can have. Get in touch today for a no obligation quotation.
