Encephalitis & Life Insurance
When you have experienced encephalitis, it can feel like quite an obstacle to get life insurance in place.
It can be quite intense to know which insurer to put life insurance application, so that you can feel confident that you are getting value for your money.
Our advisers speak with insurance underwriters every day and will be able to find the right insurer to match your needs and your health.
To get things started we will ask you:
- When were you diagnosed with encephalitis?
- What was the cause of your encephalitis?
- Are you fully recovered?
- What medications and treatments did you receive?
- If you still have symptoms of encephalitis, what are they and how often do you have them?
Your options for life insurance will mainly depend upon when you were diagnosed with encephalitis and any ongoing symptoms that you have. If your diagnosis of encephalitis was quite recent you could find that insurers postpone or decline your application, until some more time has passed.
Where life insurance is available, most insurers will ask to see a report from your GP to confirm your diagnosis and how your overall health is now.
Life insurance could be offered to you anywhere from standard terms, through to what is known as rated terms. Standard terms are most likely where the encephalitis happened many years ago, due to a viral infection, and you are fully recovered with no ongoing symptoms.
If you do continue to have any symptoms linked to the encephalitis, or you have a secondary condition that its linked to it e.g. epilepsy, then you can find that some insurers will increase the cost of your life insurance. Life insurance is generally quite cheap, so the increases aren’t often as bad as people think they will be.
Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.
Encephalitis & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Your options for critical illness cover will depend upon when you experienced encephalitis and any symptoms that you still experience. There is a potential to arrange critical illness cover if you have fully recovered and have no serious long lasting symptoms.
Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.
Encephalitis & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
There is the potential to arrange income protection at standard terms if the encephalitis happened years ago and you have no ongoing symptoms.
If the encephalitis was caused by another condition, or you still have ongoing symptoms, you can find that your income protection policy needs to be placed with a specialist insurer.
Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.

“Sick of bad life insurance brokers? I’ve found the Cura. The Cura team are the best. I was going to say don’t look elsewhere but actually I think you should - you’ll only end up coming back! I had a dreadful experience with other brokers who were inflexible and called endlessly. The Cura team had knowledge of the market far superior than their competitors and offered professional advice that I could trust. The big players will tempt you with a £15 Amazon gift card… have more value in your insurance products. Forget them and focus on an individualised service from true experts in their field.” - 5
