Artists & Life Insurance
Art comes in many forms and there are different levels of risk, depending upon the art that you do.
Painting with acrylics on a canvas is a very different risk profile to an artist using heavy machinery to make and weld a giant sculpture.
We will find the right insurer to match you and your form of art.
Just to double check, our advisers may ask:
- Do you travel outside of the UK for work?
- Do you use any heavy machinery or welding equipment?
- What is the weight of the artwork that move?
Artists generally are considered as a low risk when applying for life insurance, so most should get standard terms.
Some factors could change the options you get life insurance. If you regularly use heavy machinery or lift heavy art pieces, this could alter your options for life insurance and may result in your premiums being increased.
If you travel abroad for your work, you can also find that this could change which insurer will offer you the best price for your life insurance.
If you do partake in any high risk sports due to your occupation, then this could alter who you place your life insurance application with. Sports are sometimes a bit of an unusual one when it comes to insurance as it can be hard to know what you should tell the insurer and what you don’t need to tell them. We will let you know exactly what is needed.
Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.
Artists & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
As an artist your job is not usually seen as particularly risky for claims on critical illness cover.
There are some forms of art that could potentially increase the risk of claiming on a critical illness policy. We will discuss this with you and make sure that your critical illness cover goes to the right insurer to match your work.
If you travel abroad a lot, critical illness cover can be trickier to get. Your insurer must assess the likelihood of you being diagnosed in the UK based upon health data here, but then also the risk of you being diagnosed with a critical illness based on the health data of the country you are travelling to.
The main time that insurers will want to know more about your travel is if you are going abroad for more than a week for work, or if you are travelling to a country that is seen as high risk.
Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.
Artists & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Insurers will want to make sure that they fully understand the risks of your work and will want to know what your art work involves.
If you are self-employed or work through a limited company, professional advice is key when wanting the right policy and insurer. Specific income protection policies are designed to fit fluctuating self-employed income.
Income protection does not pay out for lack of work, loss of contracts or loss of inspiration, rather it is solely the ability at which you can work due to your health.
Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.
