Quad biking & Life Insurance
There are a few factors that quad biking can make it seem risky in the eye’s of insurers.
Quad biking doesn’t always feature on applications for life insurance, but many ask open-ended questions about taking part in extreme sports.
This can be hard to answer as you might not think that it’s an extreme sport, but the insurer can, and if you don’t say so they could say that you have none disclosed on your life insurance application. But, another insurer might be quite ok for you to say that this isn’t an extreme sport. It can be very confusing!
To double check this our advisers will ask you:
- How often are you in quad biking?
- Do you take part in competitions?
- Is your time quad biking in the UK or abroad?
In the majority of times if quad biking is only a hobby you shouldn’t see any changes to the premiums for your life insurance.
Although, if you do compete professionally or travel abroad to quad bike, it’s important to find an insurer that understands and supports your activities. Riskier sports can lead to higher premiums with some insurers, so it’s important to search the UK market for the best policy for you, rather than just going with the first quotation that you see.
Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.
Quad biking & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness cover has quite a few conditions that are a higher risk of happening due to quad biking, which includes; paralysis, traumatic head injuries, and comas. Your quad biking actions can affect which insurer is going to be of the greatest benefit to you.
Most insurers won’t include quad biking in their questions, they will instead ask about extreme sports in general. Even if your quad biking isn’t at an extreme level, it’s important to clarify the specifics with the insurer. Speaking to underwriters before submitting your application is a really good idea to answer every question correctly, that’s where we shine!
Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.
Quad biking & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Quad biking is seen as high risk by some income protection insurers. The insurer will mainly be looking at quad biking that you do as a hobby, not times where it is just a one-off event on holiday. You should always double check the questions though.
Statistically, a working age adult is a lot more likely to claim on their income protection policy than there be a claim for life insurance or critical illness cover. So something like quad biking, that can increase the risk of quite big injuries, is something they can want to know more about.
You will be assessed on your application by your occupation and participation in quad biking. Your insurer will examine how likely the chance of you having an accident while riding will be and if an injury may affect your ability to do your occupation.
Many insurers are cautious about quad biking and may place exclusions on your policy for claims related to the activity. Sometimes, they may not offer income protection at all.
We have access to insurers who are more flexible with people who do quad biking and may be able to provide income protection without exclusions.
Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.

Common Questions
Hi, the answer is that it depends on what insurance you are referring to. If you already have life insurance in place and had no intention of quad biking when you took out the policy, the insurer probably won’t require you to update them on your plans. But, you should let them know if you intended to go quad biking and didn’t say so on any relevant questions that they asked.
A one off quad biking session at CentreParcs is very unlikely to change your options for insurance. Insurers often do give allowance for one-off events.
