Travelling to Vietnam is an incredible experience and is on a lot of peoples’ bucket lists. There are so many breathtaking views and a beautifully rich culture.
Many UK insurers will offer life insurance to people travelling to Vietnam on a holiday at standard terms.
To check your life insurance options we will ask:
- When do you plan on travelling to Vietnam?
- How long will your trip to Vietnam be?
- Are you going to Vietnam for work or a holiday?
If you are planning to stay in Vietnam for over 30 days then your insurer could ask more about your trip. They are just wanting to make sure if they can class you as a UK resident, so you are eligible to take out the cover.
For holidays that are longer than 30 days, or work trips that are more than a week to Vietnam, you may find yourself with non-standard terms. This can also occur with any high risk sports or frequent travel outside of the UK across the past couple years.

British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness cover will often be available at standard terms for visits to Vietnam. Holidays over 30 days or a work trip over a week long could affect if you get your cover at standard terms, this usually means that the pricing goes a bit higher.
For most people an upcoming trip to Vietnam will not affect their options for critical illness cover. However, if you are planning on a long trip travelling around Asia for more than a month, it might be that your options are quite limited until you return to the UK.
