Parkour & Life Insurance
Taking part in parkour can seem quite risky to insurers. You are often pushing your body and mind to do things that would scare most people.
Whilst jumping between buildings and other obstacles is more high risk than being sat at home, the flip side of this is that you are likely at the peak of physical fitness.
To find the best insurer for you we will ask you:
- How often are you taking part in parkour?
- Are you doing parkour just in the UK or abroad?
With many insurers parkour doesn’t specifically come up in the question set, but you need to watch out for it. Some insurers will ask if you do ‘Any extreme sport’ and they will often give examples such as white water rafting and bungee jumping. Parkour would be a yes to this question, if it is in the life insurance application you are seeing.
We know which insurers will and won’t ask you this, and it can make a big difference to your options if the parkour needs disclosing. With an insurer that doesn’t ask generically about extreme sports it’s likely that your life insurance application will be accepted at standard terms.
If you are travelling abroad regularly to take part in parkour, or for more than 30 days at a time, then this could be something the insurer wants to know more about.
Our award winning advisers will find the best life insurance to match you and your parkour activities.
Parkour & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
When you apply for income protection insurers are very keen to know about anything that could make you a higher risk of making a claim. Just like life insurance, your parkour could fall under the any extreme sports questions.
If it does you might find that some insurers won’t offer you income protection, or they place exclusions for claims relating to your parkour. It’s best to avoid these exclusions so knowing where to look and finding the best insurer’s application for you, is key to getting you a quality income protection policy.
Our expert advisers will research the market for an insurance policy that gives you peace of mind.
Parkour & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Taking part in parkour might pop up in the extreme sports section of some insurer’s critical illness applications. The main concern from insurers will be that you are doing something that could put you at a higher risk of making a claim. Critical illness cover usually pays out a claim for traumatic head injuries, total paralysis and total permanent disability, and these are potential risks with what you do.
The key thing for you is to find an insurer that is going to be able to accept your application at normal terms. This will depend upon picking the insurer with the right questions to match you doing parkour.
Our team of award winning advisers will find the right insurer and critical illness policy to give you the protection that you need.
