Rwanda & Life Insurance
When planning a trip to Rwanda for a short holiday, you should find no major issues on your life insurance. Although, this will depend on your insurer.
To check your life insurance options we will ask:
- When will you visit Rwanda?
- How long is your stay in Rwanda?
- Where will you be in Rwanda?
- Are you travelling to Rwanda for a holiday or work?
Holidays lasting 30 days or less should be ok and you might be offered life insurance at normal terms, with some insurers. Trips longer than 30 days or a work trip over 7 days can affect your life insurance options quite significantly. The price of your life insurance can go up quite a bit, or you might find that the insurer postpones your application for life insurance until your trip is over.
Where you travel in Rwanda can certainly effect your life insurance. The precise location, the types of transport that you use and how long you are in Rwanda for, can all play a part in the insurers decision.
People who have spent significant time in Rwanda in the past 5 years might find that some insurers ask them to have a medical, including a HIV test, to fully assess their application.
Our award winning advisers are here to give you peace of mind with the right life insurance policy, so that if the worst happens, your loved ones will be taken care of.
British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness cover may be available at standard terms, depending on your length of stay in Rwanda.
Trips to Rwanda under 30 days gives you a greater chance of getting normal terms on your critical illness cover. Normal terms means no premium increase or exclusions.
Trips to Rwanda over 30 days are more likely to result in the insurers saying that they want to wait until you return from your trip, before they can consider your application for critical illness cover. This is known as a postponement or in some cases a decline.
Our expert advisers are trained to find the critical illness policy that matches you and your needs, so that if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, you can focus upon you rather than worrying about money.
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
It is possible that you may get regular terms for income protection when travelling to Rwanda, if your visit is less than 30 days. This is very specific to some insurers.
Longer trips abroad often lead to insurers saying that they won’t consider your income protection application, until you have returned home. There are very specific rules about residency, tax and eligibility for income protection policies, for people that travel regularly or for long periods of time.
Protecting your income is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your financial future and our award winning advisers are here to sort it for you.
